The Jaguar E-Type is an icon that requires little introduction. Even Enzo Ferrari thought it was the most beautiful car in the world. The performance level of the E-Type was also just as high-profile as the design: with its top speed of 240 km / h it was the world's fastest production car.
About this specific example:
This beautiful Jaguar E-Type 3.8 liter "Open Two Seater" left the gates of Browns Lane on October 17, 1963, and was shipped one week later to Jaguar USA, with final destination Major R.L. Phillips, in California. Subsequently, the E-Type spent his life in the United States. In 2015, the Jaguar again made the crossing across the Atlantic, this time to start a second life on the European continent. The Jaguar has been fully restored for a period of two years on behalf of the current owner, where costs have been spared. The Jaguar is stripped to bare metal; provided with new sheet metal where necessary, including a completely new bonnet. The body was then painted in the beautiful, rare color Opalescent Dark Blue. All technique was completely overhauled; including the engine, differential and wheel suspension. Here a number of things were improved: A Tremec 5-speed gearbox was mounted, where the old gearbox is stored at the car; the brakes, cooling and shock absorbers have been improved; there is an aluminum flywheel, big-bore stainless steel exhaust system and electronic ignition mounted and as finishing touch original type of wire wheels, but broadened to 6J and equipped with slightly wider Michelin XWX tires. Finally, the interior is completely re-engineered and expertly covered in dark red leather. At the request of the owner, the dashboard is equipped with the beautiful aluminum finish that is characteristic of early E-Types.
Since the restoration, only 700km have been traveled by car and the E-Type is therefore in magnificent new condition.
On the road:
Driving in an early Jaguar E-Type always remains a magical experience. A good E-Type is also very modern for modern concepts and extremely well manageable. This freshly restored copy adds even more to this by the tactile and tasteful improvements. The perfectly tuned, slightly tuned engine in combination with the 5-speed gearbox, improved brakes and chassis make this "E" simply better than it already was; it is unbelievable that a car from 1963 can offer such a combination of flexibility, speed and agility. The particularly attractive color combination "Opalescent Dark Blue" with red leather gets the most out of the already fantastic lines of the E-Type.
We can imagine that Enzo Ferrari has had some sleepless nights ...
